SURPRISE! This weekend was full of surprises and it was fantastic! It was my husband's 30th birthday and we pulled out all the stops! The first surprise up - we hosted a huge party. Both of our families made the trek to Kansas City and so many of our friends kept the secret. Friday night everyone filled the indoor court at Chicken N Pickle, turned off the lights and surprised the heck of out of the birthday boy. We rented all four courts for pickleball, ordered food and drinks, played yard games, and had such an amazing night. If you haven't heard of Chicken N Pickle, I wrote about it a few months ago - check it out here. Saturday, we had more surprises! My husband has always had a love for planes and flying. His grandfather was a pilot so his interest was piqued at a young age and he's long been intrigued with the idea of getting his pilot's license. So, I worked some magic, found one of the best pilots in the business - Tim House, and he happily agreed to take my husband on his first ever flying lesson. Check out the video below to see his reaction! He is still talking about this experience and I think he will for a very long time. It was definitely an unexpected surprise and an adventure he has long dreamed about. I'm so glad I got the chance to make it come true and I won't be surprised if this was just the first step toward achieving his dream of becoming a pilot. Thank you, Tim! Later that day we made our way over to Blade & Timber to sling a few axes. Oh my goodness, my family LOVED this place. Look for a post later this week from Grace about our axe throwing escapade. It was such a blast! We had an amazing weekend with family and friends, those of whom I can not thank enough for their help, support, secret keeping, and for celebrating with us! Here's some of the crew that came out on Friday! - Rachel
